January 10 - 31: African Cup of Nations - Benin have to beat Egypt and hope for some luck.
January 11 - 30: U19 Cricket World Championships - Canada beat Zimbabwe, but lost to Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Now onto the plate championship.
January 12: Eurocup, game 6 - Brose Baskets advanced!
January 12: Eurochallenge, game 6 - EiffelTowers Den Bosch advanced!
January 13 - 14: Euroleague, game 10 - Barcelona advanced!
January 13 - 14: Eurocup women, 16th finals, 2nd leg - Saarlouis Royals advanced!
January 13 - 14: Euroleague Women, game 9 - MiZo Pécs 2010 won!
January 13 - 15: Americas league, game 4 - Quimsa still undefeated!
January 17: Asian Cup, qualifying round - Vietnam lost.
January 16 - 24: Canadian Junior Curling Championship - Ontario boys and girls undefeated.
January 16 - 17: World Sprint Speed Skating Championships - Canada finished outside of the top 10 in all disciplines.
January 13 - 31: Australian Open - Valarie Tetreault made it through the qualifiers, but lost to Kim Clijsters in the first round, Peter Polansky and Rebecca Marino lost in the first round of the qualifiers. Heidi El Tabakh and Sharon Fichman lost in the second round of the qualifiers.
